Ooh ooh, can two play?
1. Wrapping or gift bags?
Wrapping. Actually I'll accept presents in either.
2. Real or artificial tree?
Artificial. Who wants to kill a living thing for the sake of Christmas?
3. When do you put up the tree?
I don't.
4. When do you take the tree down?
I don't.
5. Do you like eggnog?
I don't know if I've ever tried it.
6. Favorite gift received as a child?
150-in-1 electronics kit.
7. Do you have a nativity scene?
I keep looking, but I can never find one where Jesus is Black.
8. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Definitely the book on Runes. Not just about runes per se, but how to use them to tell the future or some such twaddle. The person who gave it to me clearly didn't grasp (or care about) the distinction between a healthy interest in runic script and an unhealthy belief in magic and new-age claptrap.
9. Mail or e-mail Christmas cards?
I used to mail them, but few people responded, so I stopped mailing them. Email is so immediate - what's the point of sending a special Christmas missive to somebody who is no further away than a few keystrokes or an instant message?
10. Favorite Christmas movie?
"The Little Drummer Boy". I always hated that song. Oh hang on, you want the most favourite, not least favourite. My most favourite is "Die Hard".
11. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Usually pretty late, but this year pretty early. Not before 1st December.
12. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Pavlova.
13. Clear lights or colored on the tree?
Coloured.
14. Favorite Christmas song?
"The Night Santa Went Crazy" by Weird Al.
15. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Visit friends.
16. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
For difficult questions like that I always consult Wikipedia.
17. Angel on the tree top or a star?
Bells, actually.
18. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
Xmas Morning.
19. Most annoying thing about this time of year?
The double demerit points. Actually I think whenever double demerits occur, peoples' intelligence halves.
20. Do you decorate your tree in any specific theme or color?
What is it with all these tree questions? Do you have some kind of Pine fetish?
21. What do you leave for Santa?
It depends whether he's been naughty or nice.
22. Least favorite holiday song?
Apart from "The Little Drummer Boy", it would have to be "Joy to the World". Talk about groveling!
23. Favorite ornament?
Edible candy canes. It's such a pity we haven't yet invented tree-hung Pavlova.
Great Jon! Thanks buddy, for responding, and your answers (tree, what tree? haha).
I hope that 2008 is your best year yet!
-to the other one- Here I go to Wikipedia, to look up pavlova! Merry Christmas, best wishes to you as well.
To the localmalcontent,
Your question about eggnog and unfamiliarity with pavlova suggest to me that you are located in the Northern Hemisphere. Is this correct?
Wikipedia's entry is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavlova_(food)
What the entry fails to impart though, is how awesomely delicious a dessert it is.
To the other one: Yes, my water drains in a counter-clockwise method. Click on my name to visit my blog, and we can allow Jon to cease being a telephone operator.
Sorry Jon.
Since I'm here, though, Is IT the Next Big Thing, afterall? Can you elaborate?
I don't really want to write too much in this forum since this would be unfair to the person who has piqued my interest. Anyway, that is where it stands right now - a simple piquing of interest.
Time (if not this blog!) will tell whether it develops any further...
